Your chance to create some unforgettable memories in Derby. This is a unique trip available to Dad's and their son/daughter, and we encourage multiple children to come along if the tribe is a big one! We understand and respect that every family has it's own situation, and we're flexible on what a 'Father figure' might look like. That's right, those favourite Uncle's are welcome to come along too...

For all the Mums out there that love to ride! We've got the perfect package for you, that will be run in conjunction with this trip. There's more than just epic trails on offer, we've got a few select and exclusive experiences along the way to ensure that this trip will be unforgettable. All of the usual Tailored Trails trimmings, including private group transfers & shuttles, accommodation, meals, a mix of on-trail guiding, and a few perks along the way...

Our 'Shared Group Experience Packages' include all of your transport and logistics, including transfers and shuttles. We'll get you acquainted with the trials with a mix of on-trail guiding across the trip. The majority of your lunches and dinners are included, cooked in house by one of our professional staff, or at one of our local favourites! You will stay with our premium accommodation providers, situated only a short stroll or ride to the trailhead and center of town. Enjoy excellent kitchen & living spaces, comfortable beds, great bathrooms, and full laundry facilities, in one of our hand-picked private houses.

'FATHER & CHILD' SHARED PACKAGE - Blue Derby & Blue Tier | Shared Package | Limited Spots

April 9-12th 2025 - Capped at 8 people

House and bedding configuration will be tailored to the group, each family will have it's own private bedroom.

Rider skill level :  Intermediate to Advanced

Fitness level : Moderate fitness required, and minimum 'Blue/Black' level riding ability.

Ride distances : Expect to ride 20-50km per day, on some of Australia's best purpose built MTB singletrack. Difficulty ratings range from 'blue' through to 'double black'.

Ages : We recommend children be at least 12 years old, but this is not mandatory. Rider ability is more important, and we expect that all riders on the trip are capable of riding a minimum intermediate 'blue' level trails. The ride plan is very flexible and you will have the option to stick with the group, or do your own thing on some days.

This trip is aimed at father's and their children, but is not exclusively male. Daughters are welcome and the house set-up will accommodate this accordingly.

Guides : Travel with a local, all of our owners and staff live and ride in the area, and know the networks as our local trails. This trip will have a dedicated van, driver, and guide for the duration of your trip. Your package includes a mix of on-trail guiding and coaching sessions with one of our PMBIA accredited coaches.

Itinerary - 4 Day 'Father/Child' Package - Blue Derby & the Blue Tier

Package cost includes a Tailored Trails merch pack, so you will be the best looking riders in town!

We recommend BYO bike, but hire bikes are available when booking. Please select your preferred bike and complete sizing information when making your booking.

9th April - Transfer LST-DBY & Intro to Derby Shuttles

• Pick-up at Launceston Airport or CBD
• Recommend flight arrival before 10:00am, or fly in the day before and we'll pick you up from the CBD
• Private group transfer - Launceston to Derby (inc. supply stops at Scottsdale)
• Intro to Derby group ride, and afternoon block of private group 'Black Stump' shuttles

• Dinner included
• Accommodation - Private house in Derby

10th April - Blue Tier - Bay of Fires 13km & Blue Tier

• Ride the Bay of Fires 13km descent, one of the best flow descents in Australia!
• Ride the Blue Tier Wilderness Trail (23km) to Weldborough Hotel
• Includes private group shuttle to each trail, and the option to finish on 'Atlas' (16km)
• Includes on-trail guide for the day

11th April - Blue Derby - Black Stump & Atlas Shuttles

• Morning block of private group 'Black Stump' shuttles
• Afternoon guided ride on a few of our local favorite trails, to show you the local lines!
• Afternoon block of private group 'Black Stump' shuttles, finishing off with 'Atlas'

• Evening fire and cook-up, an evening you will remember for a while to come...
• Lunch and dinner included
• Accommodation - Private house in Derby

• Pack down bikes & gear, and prepare for return to the real world...
• Private group transfer Derby to Launceston (airport or CBD)
• Suggest flight departure after 5:30pm

Travel in comfort and style in our modern Mercedes vans, with a local driver who is familiar with the trail network and riding conditions. Tailored Trails is a rider owned and operated family run business, specialising in premium MTB trips across Tasmania.

Deposit / Refund / Minimum Numbers

A 20% deposit is required to secure your spot on the trip, with half-payment due 60 days out and full amount is due 30 days out from the trip. You will receive reminder emails when relevant payments are due. Full payment can also be made upfront if you prefer and payment plans are available if you prefer.

This shared group trip requires a minimum of 6 riders to proceed. If the minimum numbers are not met, we will liaise with booked riders on alternate trip options and dates, or will offer a 100% refund if an ideal replacement can not be accommodated. Please liaise with Mark prior to booking your flights to confirm timing and details.
